Words like “non GMO”, “whole foods” and “organic”; for most people that adds up to more money and less convenience. Thanks to recent world events, experts tell us to expect to pay more for our food. Canada’s Food Price Report 2020 speculates that an average family will lay out as much as 700 dollars more in 2021 for their groceries. Increases between 5.5 and 6.5% will be felt in the produce department. What’s a person to do? Do the little things here and there. They all add up.

If you ever see those discounted bags of tomatoes at the store, grab them!

Parchment paper on the baking sheet. Wash and cut your tomatoes, and add whatever you have: chunked onions, whole garlic cloves, basil leaves; salt and pepper with olive oil. Bake at 425 until things are charred. Whiz it up in the blender or in the pot with the emersion blender. If you are not using it then, chuck it in a freezer bag and into the freezer.
